Our Outreach Committee meeting was held on January 9th, 2012. This potluck dinner took place at our Chairman, Tom Sherman’s beautiful home in Lenox. We covered issues in which we could raise funds, in addition to discussing the current trends of our Local and Global Outreach Ministries. Our Local Ministries include, The Christian Center in Pittsfield, the Lenox Food Pantry, the Lenox Pre-school, BRIDGE, our Prayer Shawl Ministry and the Angel tree Ministry. Our two Global Ministries continue to be the Boomerang Invalid Society in Russia and the Penieal Shephard Mission to Ghana in Africa.
The committee proactively shared ideas in areas they personally felt would benefit more from Outreach Ministries. Unanimously, we agreed on two initiatives, “youth and the elderly”. There will be more discussion on these initiatives with the assistance of BRIDGE in our next meeting.
A new initiative known as “KIVA”, thoroughly researched and presented by Amy Chin, was added to our current group of Global Outreach Ministries. KIVA, a non-profit organization provides financial assistance to small businesses in dire economic need. There is a 98% repayment rate.
We are very excited with these new prospects and what wonderful ministering it will bring to those in need locally and globally. Come share your personal thoughts, suggestions, and ideas on Outreach Ministries.
Our next Potluck Outreach Committee meeting will take place at 5:30pm on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at home of Mr. and Mrs. John Powell in Pittsfield, MA.
