Godly Play

What is Godly Play?
Storytelling is the oldest form of teaching.  In Godly Play, A Storyteller tells a story from scripture using Montessori-inspired materials.  The children are then invited to "wonder" about the meaning of the story.  Afterward they respond to the story during "work" time through art or using the lesson materials.

Join us for Sunday School!
10:20 AM at the Chapel - 55 Main Street
During the summer, Godly Play meets during the 10:30 AM Worship Service at the church - 169 Main Street

Mission Statement

The mission of the church on the Hill is to worship, celebrate and promote our common faith in God through Jesus Christ.
We practice Christian fellowship and wlcome all to unite with our church family in that pursuit.

We promote the ministry of Christ through education, evangelism and outreach.

Our responsibilities to our community and the world include sharing, service and ecumenism.

While we respect the importance of our local history and religious traditions, we recognize also the need for change and tolerance to meet the challenges of today.

OUTREACH

We believe that an effective church is a church that reaches beyond itself.

 Some of our Outreach Ministries:

 Local:

  • Angel Tree Ministry---buying Christmas presents for children whose parent is in prison.
  • Habitat-for-Humanity-- Attend two work days as assigned and support some projects financially.
  • Prayer Shawl Ministry---Knit shawls for people who may be ill, lonely, grieving, or celebrating.
  • Support Lenox Food Pantry---Deliver supplies and work in the pantry.
  • Support the missions of the Christian Center in Pittsfield
  • Hospitality Committee--- visit new potential members and newcomers to the church.
  • We provide space for groups such as AA , Interfaith groups, and the  Berkshire Concert Choir.

  Global:

  • "Boomerang Invalid Society”---we give financial aid to this mission in  St. Petersburg, Russia. They are involved  in helping disabled pensioners get back to leading productive lives.
  • “Penieal Shephard Mission”---a mission provided by a church in Accra Ghana. We donated instruments to assist in  their musical ministry. We raised money to send a van so that they could take their ministry “on the road.”

We are involved in our Massachusetts State Conference in raising funds for Our Churches Wider Mission, and we do both hands on and financial ministries in our country and around the world.
